In this series I recreate ice tools from molded plastic packaging.
For the pototype I created a silicon mold of a hammer. Imagine using this hammer to nail it out there in the world.

The movement in the video work is hardly noticable on purpose to give the illusion of a still image. We observe the melting process of a head made of ice played backwards. The movement will not be percieved with your eyes but experienced in your head as a sort of aha moment.
Gaze was used as concert visuals for performances of experimental musician Stefkovic van Interesse between 2013 and 2016.

The creation of the video was an integral part of the work, an activity I shared with close friends. In the video we observe a tiny house made of matchsticks burning to the sounds of domestic activities.
"Die letzten zehn Jahre waren wie eine Wartehalle"
Sagt das Kind und dokumentiert die eigene Sehnsucht in Bildern
"Ich würde schon gerne mal in diesen Kopf schauen"
Sagt die Mutter und meint Menschen sind eben verschieden
Der Gedanke an den Tod, weit weg
Im aufgebröckelten Putz,
In den Zeilen vergangener Tage
Sammelt das Kind alles um den Zusammenhang zu finden und sagt:
"Das Finden von Dingen kann man nicht planen"
Die jahrelange Suche hinterlässt Spuren in der Wartehalle
Behütet in der besten Familie hat sich das Kind verloren
"Schön im Lotto gewinnen"
Sagt der Vater
Eine Ausrede die das Kind nicht versteht
"Im Großen und Ganzen bin ich glücklich"
Sagt die Mutter
"Eigentlich ist immer alles gleich"
Auf dem Schreibtisch liegt ein Foto von gestapelten Zuckerwürfeln
Nur eines liegt leicht verquer
